Just like the Egyptians, Ethiopians and the Canaanites, the Israelites are black people.

Moses escaped death by passing as the grandson of Pharaoh and later was mistaken for an Egyptian.  "Moses stood up and helped them... and they said, an Egyptian delivered us..."  Exodus 2:17,19
