Beware of The Fruit You Eat

Man persists in following in the footsteps of Adam and Eve. And by remaining disobedient and believing and continuing to invest in a lie, man forever more condemns his soul. Scriptures will show that it was Satan who first encouraged Adam and Eve to sin. Satan started man off with the lie that he would not die. However now that lie is being presented with a new twist. People are now taught, that even tho they will ultimately have to face death, it=s alright because their soul will go on directly up to Heaven. And the acceptance of this false premise has made it easier for man to disobey God=s word. Death was first mentioned as a punishment if man were to disobey God Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Satan eased man=s mind by eliminating the punishment Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Now since man knows he cannot avoid the punishment he is simply being mislead by an altering of the conditions of the punishment. The impact of Death is lessened with the premise of one dying and immediately going to Heaven.

This lesson will start where it all began in the Garden of Eden and we will see that what Adam and Eve ate was a lie and not some fruit as is commonly taught. Keep in mind there are two trees in the Garden the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil the scriptures will identify these trees as being Jesus and Satan respectfully. God placed man in Eden and instructed him on what he could and could not do and the consequences thereof.

Genesis (2:8) And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

(9) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

(16) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

(17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Satan talked to Eve

Note that it states that the serpent is talking to Eve, we will find that this represents Satan.

Genesis (3:1) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

(2) And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

(3) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

The following verses from the book of Ezekiel will show that the serpent and the tree of knowledge of good and evil are symbolic of Satan. While it says the lamentation is upon the king of Tyrus one knows this is not a man. Verse (13) says he was in the Garden of Eden and verse (14) lets us know he was one of the angels that covered , and Isaiah (37:16) lets us know he was covering the Lord.

Ezekiel 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

(13) Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

(14) Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

(18) Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick ; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

Satan is an angel and he was present in the Garden of Eden.

Isaiah (37:16) O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

The following verse confirms the faith of Satan spoken of by Ezekiel.

Revelation (20:2) And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

(10) And the devil that deceived the them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil

The fruit Adam and Eve ate

Satan first lied to man about not being punished for being disobedient to God=s word..

Genesis (3:4) And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

But note Satan does mix in some truth.

Genesis (3:5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

(6) And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The following verse tells that the fruit they ate where fruit of lies.

Hosea (10:13) Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

Adam and Eve did not literally eat fruit off a tree the knowledge they obtained came from listening to Satan. Everything we as individuals know is from what we are taught.

This should serve to make people aware of the fact that they need to be knowledgeable of the scriptures to avoid any one imparting to them wrong information. For as Paul states:

II Corinthians (11:14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

(15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

How the fruit was consumed

As stated Adam and Eve did come to know good and evil.

Genesis (3:7) And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

(8) And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

(9) And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

(10) And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

In the next verse one sees that listening was how Adam and Eve ate the fruit of this tree. And we know they were listening to Satan. Note God asked who told thee that thou wast naked?

(11) And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

The need for knowledge

Now Adam upon being questioned by God blamed Eve for his disobedience and Eve blamed Satan for being deceitful thus resulting in her being disobedient. It is important to note that God did not say Adam you have a good excuse so you=re pardoned because Eve gave you some bad advice and Eve you have a good excuse so you=re pardoned because Satan deceived you. God imposed the sentence He had said would befall man if they disobeyed. Eve believed what they did was alright and Adam thought that what they did was alright. The only way one can avoid being mislead concerning the word of God is to know the scriptures. The following verse lets us know that God means for man to adhere to His instructions and one needs to reevaluate there beliefs and thoughts if they do not line up totally with the word of God.

Genesis (3:19) In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Death enters into the world

The following verse shows that death immediately came into the world Adam and Eve covered themselves with leaves when they became aware they were naked. Genesis (3:7) they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. However God clothed them with animal skins so this meant an animal or animals had to die.

Genesis (3:21) Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Adam and Eve did not immediately physically die but they died spiritually. And just like Adam man has continued to remove himself from God by being disobedient to His word. Every since sin entered into the world the life span of man has declined.

Now we saw in the scriptures that Satan was represented by the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Next we will examine the scriptures that will show that the tree of life represents Jesus.

Now in addition to death coming into the world as a result of mans disobedience God drove man out of Eden thus putting distance between Himself and man. And thus preventing man from taking from the tree of life and living forever.

Jesus the tree of life

Genesis (3:22) And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

(23) Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

(24) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Now in verse 24 it states that Cherubims were placed to keep the way of the tree of life we know this is talking about God.

Isaiah (37:16) O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

Remember in Genesis (2:9) it stated that the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil were good for food. Now we know that one ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil by listening to words being spoken. And one eats from the tree of life the same way and that is by listening to the words and those words are found in the bible. And again one can gain everlasting life by partaking of this tree.

Now pay close attention to what Jesus says in the next set of verses. He starts off by saying that He is the living bread and if any eat of this bread they will live forever.

John (6:51) I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

(57) As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

(58) This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

Now because the disciples were baffled at Jesus saying they must eat Him to gain everlasting life He clarifies it in the next verse.

(63) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Now we know that one eats from the tree of life by listening to the words and that how they get everlasting life. Jesus tells you it is His words that an individual must consume in order to have everlasting life. We'll continue looking at scripture showing that Jesus is indeed the tree of life.

Note that Jesus said in verse (57) that he that eateth me shall live by me. Now the following verse tells us that man should live by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Deuteronomy (8:3) And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

An angel was testifying of Jesus to John and he says His name is called the Word of God.

Revelation (19:13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

God is called the Word an this is who Jesus was in the beginning before He became man He was God.

John (1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(2) The same was in the beginning with God.

There are two separate distinct entities or Gods, there is God the Father and God the Son and there were both present at the beginning.

Genesis (1:26) And God said let us make man in our image, after our image, after our likeness:

The Son was made into man this was Jesus.

John (1:14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Mankind has never dealt with the Father we have only dealt with the Son. Pay attention to the following two verses.

Genesis (1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Ephesians (3:9) And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Moses told us that God created the heaven and the earth and Paul told us that all things where created by Jesus Christ.

Note in Hebrews we are told that the worlds were made by the Son of God.

Hebrews (1:1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

(2) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

Paul again is telling us that Jesus was God in the beginning.

I Corinthians (10:1) Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

(2) And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

(4) And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Psalms(69:4) They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

What did Jesus restore that man had lost due to sin? access to Himself the tree of life.

Revelation (2:7) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

As mentioned people are being taught that when they die their spirit or soul will go to heaven. If that is the case why is there to be a resurrection if all the godly people are all ready in heaven. Who is Jesus raising up. Paul tells you there is to be a resurrection of the dead.

I Corinthians (15:42) So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption

This will be the first resurrection and will occur after the angel blows the last trumpet and Jesus returns.

I Corinthians (15:52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

In Revelation we see where all the dead were not raised at this time and there will be another resurrection.

Revelation (20:5) But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

The second resurrection will be the white throne judgement.

Revelation (20:12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which written in the books according to their works.

The verse tells us that this is when the remaining of the dead will be judged. Take heed and Beware of the fruit you eat.

Peace to all that seek truth in Jesus name.
